The Plus Group is seeking an experienced EHS Regulatory Manager – Permitting & Compliance on behalf of our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing and environmental solutions. This position plays a critical role in managing permitting and regulatory compliance across multiple states, including California, Arizona, Oregon, and Texas.

This is a direct-hire opportunity with a strong compensation package and the chance to lead a high-impact EHS team.

Position Summary:

The EHS Regulatory Manager is responsible for managing environmental permitting, compliance programs, and safety initiatives across multiple facilities. This role oversees environmental regulations including air, water, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, and occupational safety.

You will lead a team of 3 EHS Coordinators, 1 Wastewater Manager, and 3 Wastewater Supervisors, ensuring company-wide adherence to EPA, OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and various state regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Compliance & Permitting (Primary Focus):

  • Manage environmental permits: air, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous materials, and waste disposal.
  • Handle permitting applications, renewals, and compliance tracking.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies: EPA, OSHA, Cal/OSHA, ADEQ, ODEQ, TCEQ, CUPA.
  • Serve as the primary contact for regulatory inspections and reporting.
  • Oversee reports: Tier II, TRI, NPDES, SWPPP, and Hazardous Materials Business Plans.

Safety & Health Management:

  • Develop and implement workplace safety programs.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and Cal/OSHA standards.
  • Lead employee EHS training and emergency response procedures.

Wastewater & Environmental Oversight:

  • Oversee wastewater treatment processes and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor hazardous waste handling in accordance with RCRA and CUPA.
  • Support sampling, testing, and reporting procedures.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Manage, train, and mentor EHS and wastewater teams.
  • Track KPIs for audits, compliance goals, and permitting timelines.
  • Lead internal compliance strategy meetings and updates.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work with consultants, engineers, and legal to align EHS goals with operations.
  • Maintain compliance tracking systems and ensure timely regulatory responses.
  • Advise leadership on regulatory risk and strategic environmental planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Safety, or related.
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS compliance and environmental permitting.
  • Deep knowledge of air, wastewater, stormwater, and hazardous waste permitting.
  • Prior team management and regulatory reporting experience.
  • Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations (EPA, Cal/OSHA, ADEQ, CUPA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Power BI, and compliance tools.
  • Preferred Certifications: CSP, CHMM, or similar EHS credentials.
