Well-established food manufacturer located in the Hayward area is looking for a Training Program Manager on a temp to hire baisis
Position Summary:
The Training Program Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving a comprehensive learning and development strategy that supports operational excellence and employee growth. This includes technical competency development, leadership training, onboarding, and hourly workforce staffing. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of building scalable systems aligned with WCOM (World Class Operations Management) and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Learning & Development Strategy:
Design and implement a company-wide learning and development roadmap aligned with business goals and WCOM/TPM principles.
Manage and evolve technical skills training, onboarding, and leadership development programs.
Leverage learning data and feedback to evaluate program impact and drive continuous improvement.
Training Operations & Execution:
Lead a cross-functional Training & Education (T&E) Pillar team focused on upskilling, gap closure, and performance improvement.
Own the development, implementation, and maintenance of skills matrices and technical capability frameworks across departments.
Ensure training content, curriculum database, and materials are up to date and aligned with evolving needs.
Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure smooth delivery, tracking, and reporting of all training activities.
Team & Resource Management:
Manage a team of up to four training and scheduling professionals to execute training initiatives efficiently.
Hire, develop, and evaluate performance of training staff. Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., HR, Document Control, Production) to coordinate training needs and ensure compliance.
Build and maintain relationships with third-party training vendors and consultants to enhance training offerings.
Leadership Development & Coaching:
Design and facilitate leadership training programs for front-line leaders and managers.
Act as a coach and mentor to team leaders to promote a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
Staffing & Recruitment Support:
Support hourly workforce planning by partnering with HR and operations to recruit temporary workers as needed to meet demand.
Participate in job postings, candidate sourcing, and the hiring process for hourly roles.
Compliance & Metrics:
Ensure 100% compliance with all regulatory, safety, and job-specific training requirements.
Track and report training metrics, including completion rates, knowledge retention (30/60/90-day checkpoints), and effectiveness.
Maintain accurate training records and documentation in accordance with company policy and external regulations.
Manage training and recognition program budgets, ensuring optimal use of resources.
Special Projects:
Lead or support special projects and initiatives as assigned by leadership.
Accountabilities:
End-to-end ownership of training strategy and systems for a workforce of approximately 300 employees.
Achievement of Training & Education (T&E) Pillar maturity grid targets.
Improvement of training performance metrics and employee development outcomes.
High compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Measurable knowledge retention and skill acquisition metrics.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Organizational Development, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
5+ years of experience developing training systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience managing technical and leadership development programs.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training data analytics.
Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and coach internal trainers and subject matter experts.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to translate operational needs into impactful training solutions.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, PowerPoint, and related training/auditor software.
Preferred:
Experience supporting TPM and WCOM environments.
Project management experience with training rollouts or continuous improvement initiatives.
Exposure to environmental, health, and safety training standards.
Pay: $48-$63\hour DOE plus medical benefits after 60 days and Paid Sick Leave after 90 days
