Patient Account Representative

Pay Rate/Range:  $14/hr

 

Start Date:  Immediately

 

Description:  Will be responsible for following up on outstanding account balances and tracking insurance claims for secondary filing.  MUST HAVE 1-2 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN A MEDICAL OFFICE SETTING.

 

Duties:

 Organize and work with detailed medical records, using computers to enter, access, search, and retrieve data.

 Post or attach information to claim file.

 Bill claims for payment or further investigation.

 Contact insured, insurance company, and/or other involved persons to obtain missing information.

 Responsible for posting and balancing payments/adjustments to patient accounts free of errors on a daily basis.

 Identify trends with denials, payment issues, etc.

 Identify non-era payments and update accordingly.

 Identify and work problem accounts and denials for appropriate resolution.

 Follow up with insurance companies ensuring that claims are paid timely.

 Identify claim problems and recommend solutions.

 Evaluate patient financial status and establish budget payment plan.

 Contribute to overall success of department, including but not limited to offering solutions, ideas, and suggestions.

 Attend appropriate and approved workshops, webinars, meetings, etc.

 Provide customer service to patients: face-to-face, by phone, or other means.

 Provide customer service to clinic employees and providers

 Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.

 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.

 Other duties as assigned.

 

Education:  High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  

Knowledge of commercial, Medicare and Medicaid insurance operating procedures.

Basic knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices.

 

 

Attire:  Business Casual

 

Duration:  Temp-to-Hire

 

Shift:  8a-5p

 

Schedule:  Monday - Friday
