Position Summary


Voice/Data Technicians work within the field of telecommunications to install, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot network systems. Common duties include: installing telecommunications systems, monitoring system performance, identifying problems, and troubleshooting systems.


Position Responsibilities - Essential


  1. Entry Level Technician requirements are as follows:

    • Minimal to three (3) years’ experience in the telecommunications field.

    • Weekly timesheets submitted to Project Manager

    • Obtain tools required to perform job task (See attached Tool List)

    • Adhere to all Company Safety Policies and Procedures.


  1. Official work hours are Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a thirty minute lunch. You are requested to be at work by 6:45 AM to be prepared for daily activities and work any additional hours as needed to perform assigned duties.


  1. All Staff is expected to work at least 10hours each day that they are scheduled for work, other than on Fridays. This excludes lunch or extended breaks. If you are not able to complete your work in this time period, then additional time should be spent to complete the assignments with approval from Operations Manager.


  1. If you are sick, a call or e-mail must be placed to the Project Manager or, in his absence, his assigned backup BEFORE the beginning of the expected starting time each day that you are to be out.


  1. Weekends and Holidays are typically heavy work times for employees of Network Controls. You should be available to work, if needed.


  1. Transportation to and from work is your responsibility; some projects may allow you to meet at the office and ride in a company vehicle.


  1. Dress codes are to be followed. Clothes that show signs of extensive wear or are tattered are not acceptable. We are professionals, so we must dress accordingly.


  1. Receive daily assignments from Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 Technicians and Project Manager.


  1. Review all job details with the Level 1, 2 or 3 Technicians and Project Manager.


  1. Projects and assignments are expected to be completed on budget, on schedule and exceed agreed to deliverables.


  1. From time to time, the Entry Level Technician will be assigned different tasks that may be outside their normal daily duties. This is done to enhance the employee’s experience and assist the company as needed. To this effect, there is no activity in the company that is not your job. It is expected that all assignment swill be performed with the same enthusiasm and professionalism.


  1. All employees are expected to become familiar with, comply and enforce company and governmental policies and regulations.


  1. Additional items will be added to this list from time to time to assist the Entry Level Technician in understanding the performance expectations.


  1. The above listed items, as well as other items assigned, as required, will be a major portion of the annual evaluation and quarterly goals. If there are any questions or a need for clarification, see the Project Manager.



Position Responsibilities- Non-Essential/Other


  • Provide any other assistance to support the company as may be required by Project Manager, Level 1, 2 or 3 Technician, or Supervisor

  • Participate in manufacturer training programs


Essential Skills and Experience


  • Communicates effectively and appropriately when dealing with other departments and/or personnel

  • Must be knowledgeable in various structured cabling configurations and terminations

  • Technical skills and knowledge of telecommunications industry and/or installation.



Beneficial Skills and Experience


  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook

  • Manufacturer Certifications are a plus.
