Our client is one of the top employers in South Carolina and has a long-term opportunity for an experienced Sr. Automation Engineer.
Provide full-time electrical engineering support in the engineering office with the following responsibilities:

Design electrical systems for assigned projects, including power and control circuits, schematic drawings, layout drawings, component specifications, and bill of materials.

Adhere to client's electrical design standards for all equipment designs.

Develop Budgetary Estimates and Bid Packages for assigned projects.

Create project documentation, including electrical designs, technical offers, safety risk assessments, maintenance and operator training documents, and user manuals.

Facilitate the ordering of equipment and materials for assigned projects.

Conduct equipment acceptance inspections for items entering the plant.

Manage electrical contractor or maintenance installation teams during equipment modifications and machine installations, from Start-up to Commissioning.

Serve as a liaison between facility engineering, central quality, methods, purchasing teams, and equipment suppliers to ensure mutual understanding of system requirements.

Provide on-site and hands-on project support, especially during installation, start-up, and ramp-up phases. Travel expectations are up to 30% of the time, with potential for higher percentages based on project assignments.
Required electrical engineering skills

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, or equivalent technical education and experience.

5+ years of engineering experience preferred.

Willingness to travel 30-50% domestically and some internationally (within USA, Mexico, and Canada).

Experience with electrical design standards and proficiency in CAD design tools, with AutoCAD required and SEE electrical and Solidworks Electrical preferred.

PLC programming skills, including GRAFCET, Ladder Logic, and Structured Text. Specific experience with Rockwell and Siemens is a plus.

Experience with variable frequency drives and motion control technologies. Specific experience with Rockwell, Siemens, and Control Techniques is a plus.

HMI configuration, programming, and communication skills. Specific experience with Rockwell is a plus.

Knowledge of control systems network interfaces and various communication protocols.

Preferred experience in vision system configuration and interface for width measurement and defect detection applications. Specific experience with Cognex, Keyence, Adept, Bytewise, Gocator is a plus.

Preferred but not required: Robotic experience, configuration, or knowledge.
