Position: Mechanical/Electrical Detailer/Drafter and Archivist
Target Start Date: Aug 1, 2017
Background: Associates Degree or 3 to 5 years of experience in drafting/detailing.
Position Description: Mechanical/Electrical Detailer/Drafter and Archivist. The applicant will be responsible for modifying and archiving engineering drawings and documents into our archiving system. Modifications to existing drawings would be done under the direction of engineering/maintenance and would be completed using ACAD and/or SolidWorks. The applicant will also be responsible for budgeting and requisitioning department supplies. This would be a fulltime position with the applicant embedded in the engineering/maintenance department.
Minimal travel would be required and would be related to training or Technical Assistance. The applicant will have the following responsibilities:
Work with the engineers in the department to modify and/or archive mechanical and electrical drawings and documents.
"Reverse engineer" mechanical components and assemblies where no drawings currently exist.
Provide the expertise in our SmarTeam archiving system. SmarTeam responsibilities would include training and loading of software for new users and document retrieval for those who do not have access. Act as the liaison between the client and central engineering for any SmarTeam issues.
Provide plant and equipment layouts.
Responsibility for the Engineering Archives area which includes our paper drawing files, printers, plotters, and copiers.
Maintain and provide a department office supplies budget. Provide technical assistance support to the client as needed.
Qualification I: Associates Degree or equivalent experience in mechanical and electrical drafting/detailing. Qualification 2: Applicant must be proficient in ACAD and SolidWorks. Experience with PUMA, and Autonomnew is preferred.
Qualification 3: Experience in an industrial environment is preferred.
Qualification 4: Applicant must be able to learn our SmarTeam archiving system to the point where they become the expert and can load the software and teach others.
Qualification 5: Applicant must be able to manage our Archiving area. The applicant must be able to plan and oversee the work of a Student Archivist. The applicant must be able to monitor, budget, and requisition office supplies. The applicant will be responsible for ensuring that all of the engineering printers and plotters are in good working order.
Qualification 6: Applicant must have strong communication skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues. Both written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Qualification 7: Applicant must maintain a high degree of confidentiality in dealing with Supplier drawings and documents.
Qualification 8: Applicant must have excellent interpersonal skills. The applicant must be able to develop positive relationships with customers.
Qualification 9: Applicant must be willing to work during the plant shutdown periods
(holidays) if needed. Normally, this is not the case.
Qualification 10: Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint).
