Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering

At least 5 years of experience in engineering, specialization, or a similar role within a caster environment

Fundamental technical understanding of Caster operations
-
Proficient decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
-
Proficiency in computer applications including SAP and Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced technical expertise in Caster operations
-
Technical knowledge of Melt Shop operations is advantageous

Demonstrated accountability for meeting commitments

Responsibilities:
-
Monitor and assess caster performance, including production, cost, and quality metrics; implement corrective actions as needed
-
Enhance Caster productivity, capacity, energy efficiency, and consumption by staying abreast of industry best practices
-
Collaborate with the Technology team to conduct product trials and offer process expertise for improvement initiatives
-
Liaise with maintenance and other steelmaking facility teams (EAF, LMF, RH, Refractory) to ensure seamless operations
-
Develop and maintain operational work instructions for caster operations; facilitate related HIRAC reviews
-
Proactively address issues leading to subpar slab quality
-
Coordinate slab scarfing activities with external contractors
-
Lead and contribute to continuous improvement endeavors
-
Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards within the caster environment
-
Advocate for and embody Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and Sustainability principles
-
Spearhead or participate in root cause analyses and corrective actions for incidents such as safety breaches, environmental non-conformities, quality deviations, and production setbacks
