Overview: We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Lead to spearhead our efforts in constructing and maintaining a state-of-the-art Electric Arc Furnace Melting and Casting Facility. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the facility's optimal operability and maintenance efficiency, aligning with the business goals of our client.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering or maintenance within a steel manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office

  • Expertise in Electric Arc Furnace, Ladle Metallurgy Facility, Vacuum Tank Degasser, Refractory, and/or Caster Maintenance

  • Advanced skills in Hydraulic Systems, Vacuum Systems, Material Handling, Emissions Control Systems, and Bag Houses

  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with professionals, operations/maintenance personnel, and construction trades

  • Thorough understanding of Reliability Engineering Practices

  • Experience with Predictive Maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, and ultrasound

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision

Additional Preferences:

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering or maintenance in a steel manufacturing environment

  • Prior experience with SAP Plant Maintenance

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Mechanical Engineering functions for the project and commissioning of the new melt shop

  • Ensure quality review of construction activities related to Mechanical Equipment manufacturing and installation

  • Develop and implement Equipment Maintenance Programs for various systems including Electric Arc Furnace, Ladle Metallurgy Furnace, Vacuum Tank Degasser, Caster, and Material Handling

  • Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility study to final acceptance tests

  • Establish technical standards for equipment procurement or modification, incorporating new technologies as needed

  • Prepare and present reports on findings, trends, and recommendations

  • Review safety protocols, incident reports, and assist in investigations as required

  • Lead improvement programs and project groups to optimize quality, cost, reliability, and performance of equipment

  • Coordinate and direct personnel as necessary

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and industrial settings within the steel manufacturing facility

  • Initially, construction setting for approximately two years

  • Location: Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday with extended hours during peak workloads
