Our Client is a venture capital-funded start-up developing the next-generation of energy efficient LED light bulbs that are recyclable, contain no mercury, look just like regular incandescent bulbs, and last for tens of thousands of hours. Summary
As a Senior Q&R Engineer, this role will play a key role to design, develop, implement and execute product qualification and reliability test plans for all current and future products. The implementation of reliability tests includes all products developed by our client. This senior engineer will directly lead and provide technical engineering support during the Engineering Validation Test (EVT), Design Validation Test (DVT), and Process Validation Test (PVT) phases of the NPI processes for all versions and type of bulbs.
Responsibilities:
Conduct/manage tests, submit timely reports, & follow through on actionable concerns, completion of certifications, and/or confirm qualification for:
Vibration
Altitude Non-Op and Operational Tests
Transportation Packaging
ESD
Design and conduct additional tests to provide reliability assurance for new products
Bulb/Driver Reliability Tests
Collaborate with the Product Development team to assure the following design elements are fully tested and qualified for durability, leak-resistance, & manufacturing yield optimization
Wire pass-through (WPT), bulb fill tubes, and the associated soldering processes
Diaphragm/assembly
Alternate source qualification
Oversee all of our client’s package testing and ISTA certification for each new package design, package design change, and second source candidate package suppliers. This minimizes product exposure to damage and our client’s exposure to liability, should products in transit be broken and leak out onto other cargo. This effort will also support Marketing and Sales to assure the cosmetic and durability of packaging complies with customer requirements
Develop reliability and qualification test plans and procedures and maintain changes as required for product, assembly, component, and material qualification
Participate in set up and monitoring of all Burn-in and Ongoing Reliability Test (ORT) processes
Participate in ongoing monitoring, data analysis, and reporting for operating life testing of bulbs and drivers as part of the Reliability team
Demonstrate professional skills in planning, scheduling, implementation, performance, and reporting of reliability tests, qualifications tests, and technical analyses. This includes effective communication and collaboration with cross functional team members
Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or directly related field plus ten (10) years industry experience in the area of Reliability within electromechanical products
