Summary
Launching new products & product changes into our client’s CM partners/suppliers. The Manufacturing Engineering works with R&D ensuring that designs are manufacturable at best cost and works with the CM/supplier to accelerate the ramp to high-volume production.
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible to ensure each program is executed within schedule, budget, quality and yield targets. The Manufacturing Engineer is also responsible for communicating program status throughout the company. The following activities will be involved in meeting these requirements:
Responsibilities:
Ensuring the goals, scope and deliverables are clearly defined and communicated for each program
Building a detailed execution plan working with all functional disciplines (Product R&D Engineering; Quality; Manufacturing Engineering; Supply Chain) as well as internal and external vendors
Conducting regular program reviews with all stakeholders, both internal and external
Communicating frequently with internal and external stakeholders regarding status, pending action items, recent developments and program needs
Ensuring that any disconnects between functional areas are resolved in a timely manner
Identifying gaps and/or risks to the program and driving mitigation plans to avoid delays or unnecessary expenses
Leading the team in the formulation and execution of recovery actions when necessary to meet commitments. This will include obtaining the commitment of the various function discipline leaders to ensure the overall recovery of the program
Driving manufacturing process development, yield improvement & automation where applicable, in collaboration with CM/suppliers
Providing input to R&D regarding manufacturing processes to support product design and throughout product lifecycle as needed
Managing design, fabrication & qualification of tooling & capital equipment
Qualifications:
BS or equivalent
Strong technical manufacturing background: fabrication & assembly processes, test, tooling, equipment, and automation
Competency with lean manufacturing & continuous improvement tools, FMEA, DOE, 8D, etc.
Experience with EMS providers & contract manufacturing
Experience with high–volume manufacturing, preferably of consumer products
Must thrive on a very fast pace and be able to make decisions with limited data
