SUMMARY: The Quality Technician oversees the daily operations of the quality assurance lab. The Quality Technician's primary mission is to represent the interests of the customer and present the voice of the customer (VoC) within the plant. This is a swing shift position (8 hours) to be scheduled between hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

• Oversees quality activities for the QC Lab

• Disposition materials on QA hold

• Provide support to manufacturing with problem solving activities

• Order consumable supplies for testing in the lab

• Manage RA’s and Complaints in data base

• Manage calibration schedule for testing equipment in lab

• Prepare lab paperwork for production as needed

• Perform required testing in the QC lab

• Retest any jobs that are out of specification

• Organize and record all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for plant

• Manage all records for FDA status and Drug Master files (DMF)

• Maintain internal system for detecting and removing out of specification materials

• Maintain the system for control, issuing, and revising of Technical Specifications

• Responsible for all aspects of the ISO 9000, QMS within the plant

• Provide communication reports

• Follow AIB guidelines

• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety instructions

• Participate in ongoing CI and Focus improvement processes

• Any other duties as requested by supervision or management

• Manage controlled documents for the plant

 

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 5-10 years of direct packaging experience or

• Associate’s degree in Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Studies

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

• 2-5 years work experience in manufacturing and quality assurance setting

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Accurate use of measuring devices such as tape measure and micrometer

• Computer literate in Word, Excel, PowePoint

• Math skills required

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The noise level in the manufacturing environment is usually loud (80-90 decibels). The QC Lab does not require hearing protection

• The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes and or airborne particles in the manufacturing environment
