SEEK Careers/Staffing is recruiting candidates for an Experienced Machinist (CNC) position on 2nd Shift in the Rice Lake area.

 

POSITION – Machinist/Programmer (CNC)

JOB LOCATION – Rice Lake, WI

STARTING DATE – Immediate

EMPLOYMENT TERM – Temp-to-Hire

EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time

WORK HOURS (SHIFT) – 2nd Shift (Mon-Thurs 2:45 pm - 1:15 am)

STARTING PAY – $18.00-$25.00/hour based on experience (7% shift differential on 2nd shift)

REQUIRED EDUCATION – High School graduate or equivalent required. 1-2 year machine tool or machinist program certificate/graduate or 4 year's experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – Machine Tooling or Machinist program graduate or 4 year's experience required. Strong emphasis on programing.

 

While working as a Machinist, you will be producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machines and/or manual machines, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. You will be using CNC, manual lathe, surface grinder, hand /power tools, forklift, measuring tools, computer, printer, and phone.

 

Responsibilities:

A. Sets up and operates conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts, and fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques

B. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements

C. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining

D. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers

E. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media

F. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required

G. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments

H. Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings and/or programmed control data

I. Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools, and power tools

J. Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks

K. May install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance

L. May develop specifications from general description and draw sketch of part or product to be fabricated

M. May confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems

N. Keep work area clean and free of debris. Make sure tools and materials are put in proper place

O. May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

 

 

Qualifications:

A. Mathematics

• Knowledge of arithmetic.

B. Mechanical

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

C. Production and Processing

• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

D. English Language

• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

E. Design

• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

F. Operation Monitoring

• Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

G. Critical Thinking

• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

H. Operation and Control

• Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
