POSITION – Press Brake Operator II

JOB LOCATION – Chippewa Falls, WI

STARTING DATE – Immediately

EMPLOYMENT TERM – Temp-to-Hire

EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time

WORK HOURS (SHIFT) - Weekend Shift (Friday-Sunday, 5:45am-6:15pm)

STARTING PAY – Up to $22+/hour based on experience + plus shift differential

EDUCATION– High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – 2 years experience in a metal fabrication setting as a Brake Press Operator preferred; and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Press Brake Operator will set-up and operate metal bending machines (Press Brake) in accordance with quality/quantity standards.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform all dimensional inspections using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and steel rulers to ensure production output meets requirements.

  • Conduct routine operator maintenance and operational checks on all tools and equipment, including tool cleaning with stone, machine oiling, fluid level/air pressure checks, and safety switch functioning.

  • Select and set up tools, equipment, and machines required for quality production based on production specifications and/or Lead’s instructions.

  • Review machine tooling requirements and plan set-up/operations to optimize workflow through the cell/department.

  • Understand the effects of the forming process on downstream operations.

  • Make machine/tooling adjustments to bring non-conforming output into specifications.

  • Understand material deflection and spring back along the piece.

  • Learn to adjust and control RAM speeds on the press for bending parts.

  • Understand different types of bending and how various materials react to forming, including growth or shrinking.

  • Load thickness, bends, and tolerances of the material.

  • Demonstrate a full understanding of compound tolerances.

  • Complete reference sheets for complicated parts.

  • Set up necessary tooling.

  • Create new programs on the machine.

  • Achieve and maintain any certifications required in the work area.

  • Cross-trained in multiple workstations.

  • Work independently without supervision.

  • Produce quality work at company standard efficiency levels for the assigned work center.

  • Meet or exceed company standard PPM levels.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in the assigned work center.

  • Retain knowledge of each job.

 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, memos, and simple instructions.

  • Knowledge of basic business math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  • Know when to add shims (.010, .020).

  • Know when to put different I-axis blocks.

  • Understand tooling for hemming or offsets.

  • Understand V-opening in dies vs. material thickness.
