We are looking for a skilled Retail Lumber Yard / Store Manager! If you enjoy leading a team, organizing operations, and providing excellent customer service, this is the role for you. This position combines hands-on yard management with administrative oversight, inventory control, and sales support. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and motivated to help the business grow while keeping customers and staff satisfied.
POSITION – Retail Lumber Yard / Store Manager
JOB LOCATION – Dunn County, Wisconsin
STARTING DATE – Immediate
EMPLOYMENT TERM – Direct Hire
EMPLOYMENT TYPE – Full-Time
WORK HOURS (SHIFT) – Days (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
STARTING PAY – $45,000 – $59,000 per year
REQUIRED EDUCATION – High school diploma or equivalent (additional training in business, construction, or related fields a plus)
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE – Experience managing a retail operation, supervising staff, handling inventory, and working in construction or building materials preferred
In this role, you will oversee all aspects of yard and store operations, ensuring efficient workflow, safe practices, and high-quality service for customers. This position requires someone who can balance leadership, organization, and hands-on problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:

Yard and Store Management:

Supervise daily operations and maintain an organized, safe yard and retail area

Optimize product layouts and displays for efficiency and customer accessibility

Coordinate routine maintenance, cleaning, and improvement projects

Customer Service and Sales:

Assist customers with material selection and project planning

Prepare quotes and estimates for retail customers
-
Support pickups, deliveries, and occasional site visits
-

Inventory and Product Management:

Track inventory levels and reorder materials as needed

Manage vendor relationships and product sourcing
-
Assemble kits or bundles for specialized customer orders

Administrative Oversight:

Operate and manage POS system and provide staff training
-
Monitor sales, pricing, and overall store performance

Delivery and Logistics:

Prepare product loads for delivery

Coordinate delivery schedules and customer pickups

Community and Marketing Engagement:

Participate in local networking events

Support marketing initiatives to promote the yard and products

Qualifications:
