The intent of this position is to fulfill requirements for management and utilization of federal disaster grant funds. This position will provide financial assistance to ensure proper and efficient administration of millions of dollars federal grant award. This position is responsible for reviewing and verifying account related information, interpreting and applying guidelines and extracting and evaluating account information/data to make decisions and monitor various accounts. Accounting Assistants review and reconcile clerical accounting documents prepared by others; provide technical assistance to staff to resolve problems; assist in developing procedures to implement or improve work processes; and develop computer spreadsheets and other data collection processes for the purpose of tracking and organizing accounts related information.

 

  • Review of budgets to support fiscal activities and ensure that each complements grant intent.

  • First level review of invoices to ensure funding and activities are within the approved scope of work.

  • Ensure initiatives are sufficient in meeting the intent of laws and guidance.

  • First level of review on procurement and contracts. Ensure that the goals and objectives of the agency and of the program are being met through contracts, projects, and programs.

  • First level review of accountability of grant initiatives through the compliance of the Nevada Revised Statues, Code of Federal Regulations and grant guidance Prepare data and information for use in various presentations and reports.

  • Provide assistance to grant staff in monitoring and tracking expenditures by project code to assist in properly aligning state authority to each federal grant component expenditures.

  • Provide grant accounting support to grant staff, to assist with first level analyzing grant data, grant spreadsheets, and grant reporting requirements.

  • Prepare data and information for use in various presentations and reports.

  • This position will work from the office and work remote, all employees are required to follow the safety plan as integrated with the weekly Incident Action Plan and the Recovery Action Plan. Contract Staff must understand and follow the DPS Telework policy.
