Material Handler, $14 – Georgetown, TX

Job Summary: The Material Handler will be supporting the Supervisor and the entire team by maintaining production and distribution of product. The Material Handler is responsible for movement of raw and finished materials to and from workstations for each job in a mechanical assembly manufacturing plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Material Handler position:

  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.

  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.

  • Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.

  • Documents materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.

  • Receives credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials and supplies code and lot number and quantity; placing materials in stock.

  • Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.

  • Documents product shipment by recording units shipped.

  • Safely operate forklift to pull materials and transport to appropriate location.

  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping material handling area neat, and keeping all material and packaging clean and free some contamination and damage.

  • Contribute to team effort through the completion of other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements and Qualifications of Material Handler position:

  • Must meet physical requirements, including the ability to stand for duration of shift, and frequently bend, twist, and lift utilizing hands and fingers, wrists, and limbs. Must be able to repetitively lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be proficient in English language, including ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

  • At least 3 years prior warehouse or manufacturing experience, preferably in a material handling role or in iron/metal industry.

  • At least 3 years prior forklift experience. Must be able to efficiently operate forklift in a safe manner, and in line with safety policies.

  • Proficient in basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

  • High level of logical - mathematical intelligence, meaning the ability to calculate, quantify, consider propositions and hypotheses, and carry out mathematical operations.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage competing time demands.

  • Strong work ethic and solid work history

  • Reliable and dependable, as demonstrated through excellent attendance in prior roles.

  • Team oriented, with the ability to thrive in a team environment and maintain positive working relationships.

  • High level of attention to detail, including dealing with labels, numbers, and recordkeeping.
