A Norton Shores company is looking for a qualified Processing Technician to join their team. Processing Technician, $13.00/hour, 2nd Shift - Norton Shores, MI

 

Job Summary: The Processing Technician will work closely with the Processing Supervisor to ensures that products are packed correctly and made ready for distribution while leading their team to their full potential. The qualified candidate must have 3-5 years of job related experience. He/she will be required to maintain sanitary equipment & environment, follow quality standards, and make appropriate recommendations to improve processing.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Packaging Lead position:

 

  • Effectively work as a team player and leader

  • Maintain a clean environment in the processing room

  • Maintain sanitary equipment and environment for the packaging of fluid products

  • Effective operation of CIP and COP systems

  • Ensure all quality standards and procedures are maintained. Administer all quality procedures, GMP's, environmental sanitation and housekeeping

  • Participate on cross functional teams to build a culture of operational excellence and innovation in the areas of processing, methods, productivity, Good Manufacturing Practices, safety and quality

  • Aid in the appropriate training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve standards for quality, quantity, and safety

  • Aid in coordinating activities of the environmental sanitation programs in compliance with state and federal regulations and requirements during assigned shift

  • Evaluate processes and methods, to make appropriate recommendations to continuously improve methods, equipment performance, utilization of people, and quality of product and safety objectives

  • Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquires and problems regarding production, quality and work problems as appropriate

  • Maintain and control departmental supplies, tools and equipment as assigned

  • Ensure the completion of all required production paperwork including, records, inventory, inspection, sanitation reports, processing/CIP charts and maintenance work orders

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including OSHA and safety

  • Be actively involved in safety efforts including, attending safety meetings, incident investigations, assisting in root cause analysis, auditing, as assigned

 

Job Requirements of Packaging Lead position:

 

  • Must have the ability to be very dependable with excellent attendance and able to work overtime, along with strong work ethic

  • Must be confident enough to lead a large staff, and ensure that they meet productivity goals while working safely; following all policies and procedures and company policies

  • Must be a self starter with the ability to work independently and in a team setting

  • Must have a mechanical aptitude and demonstrate abilities

  • Must be able to interpret math problems, having the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure

  • Must use common sense to carry out detailed, and have excellent written and verbal skills

  • Must have excellent leadership & problem solving skills, and ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

  • Must feel comfortable lifting up to 50+ pounds consistently throughout the shift; frequently standing, bending and reaching

  • Must be able to work in a wet environment. Some exposure to cleaning chemicals

  • Must have the ability to multitask, analyze data and solve problems effectively and efficiently

  • Must have excellent computer literacy/skills; work load requires working with data recorded on spreadsheets

  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment

 

Qualifications for Packaging Lead position:

 

  • 3-5 years of job related experience

  • Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Previous experience with CIP / COP Systems required

  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office Programs and/or Google Applications

  • Strong work ethic and solid work history
