ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT Job Description Incumbents perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records. This position is responsible for contract management using Excel spreadsheets to record, track, organize, modify, and report data. Additional duties include assigning account coding for payments in accordance with program requirements, maintaining records, research and resolve problems with vendor payments and other accounting issues, review and reconcile work done by others, accounts payable, verify expenditures and reimbursements, purchase orders, data entry, account reconciliation, and maintaining required supporting documentation. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Applicant should have accounting experience, be self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines while working within agency regulations. This position is located in Reno. Excellent organizational and communication skills required. Must have experience with Microsoft Outlook and Word. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level. Applicants must be able to pass a background check.
